MATH trouble?

If 8 root 8

is equal to X root Y

and X and Y are different positve intergers, what is one possible value of X+Y ??

Y IS THE SAT SO DAMN HARD???

I believe these are the steps:

8^(1/8)

= 8^(2/16) ———–> replace 2/16 with 1/8

= (8^2)^(1/16)

= 64 ^ (1/16)

we know that,

8^(1/8) = X^(1/Y)

Substitute our previous values into this equation

64^(1/16) = X^(1/Y)

Just by observation, we can see that

X=64 and Y=16

*note: there are infinite answers to this solution. I used 2/16 to replace 1/8. We can use 3/24, 4/32, etc.

And yes, SAT can be annoying
