hi can someone help me with this math problem
1.7x-3.2y=4
0.5x+7.2y=-2.08
solve using either elimination or substitution … please show all steps, i don’t understand how to solve it.. thank you for the help…

I’ll do this by substitution.
Multiply the second equation by 2:
x + 14.4y = -4.16
Subtract 14.4y from each side:
x = -4.16 – 14.4y …(1)
Substitute this value of x in the first equation:
1.7(-4.16 – 14.4y) – 3.2y = 4
Multiply out the brackets.
-7.072 – 24.48y – 3.2y = 4
Combine the y terms:
-7.072 – 27.68y = 4
Add 7.072 to each side:
-27.68y = 11.072
Divide by -27.68:
y = -0.4
Substitute this value of y in (1) above to get x:
x = -4.16 – 14.4*(-0.4)
x = -4.16 + 5.76
x = 1.6.
