okay on my homework one of the questions is use the distributive property to rewrite the expression here is a problem idk what it means can you explain okay here is one of the promblems 2(3+5) how do i rewirite this using distributive property

2(3+5)

= (2×3) + (2×5)

= 6 + 10

= 16

The distributive property it taking the number on the outside of the ( ) and multiplying my the numbers on the inside so it would be 2(3+5)= (2*3)=6 and (2*5)=10 so ur new equation would be 6 + 10 =16. All you did was take the 2 and multiply it by the three, then the 2 again and multiply that by the five to make a new equation. you moved all the signs down in the equations also.. like th + and the + and the ( ). I hope this helps

as i know, distributive property means that we can distribute one or more numbers to make different kind of expression but with same meaning. It can be happen of there’s multiplying or dividing.

for your problem, it would be..

2(3+5) –> distribute the 2 to 3 and 5

= 2(3) + 2(5)
