Math home work questions please help!?
1) If 3 times a number is increased by 22, the result is 14 less than 7 times the number. Find the number.
2) The greater of two numbers is 1 more than twice the smaller. Three times the greater exceeds 5 times the smaller by 10. Find the numbers.
3) Leonard wants to save $100 in the next 2 months. He knows that in the second month he will be able to save $20 more than during the first month. How much should he save each month?

2. if x = greater number and y = lesser number:
x = 2(y) + 1, and
3(x) = 5(y) + 10
replace x in the second equation with 2(y) + 1, since we know that is equal to x, and solve.
3. if x = month 1 and y = month 2:
100 = x + y, and
x = y – 20
so, replacing x with y – 20 in the first equation, you get 100 = y – 20 + y, so 100 = 2(y) – 20, so 120 = 2(y), so y = 60. If the second month is 60, then the first month is 40, because we know the two months together must = 100.
3x – 7x = -14 – 22
-4x = -36
x = 9
