You multiply the denominator by the whole number proceeding it (in this case 2 * 7)
Then you add that number to the numerator:
(2*7) + 3 = 17
17 is your new numerator, and your denominator stays the same; so your improper fraction is 17/7

It`s a mixed number, not a mis number.
2 and 3/7 is two whole units and 3/7 of a unit, and you have to change it all into sevenths.
One whole unit is seven sevenths, so in two units there are 14 sevenths. You have 3 more, making a total of 17 sevenths, so
2 3/7 = 7/7 + 7/7 + 3/7
= 17/7.
And that is called an improper fraction, when the numerator is larger than the denominator.
Hope this helps, Twiggy.
