when you factor that function, this is what you get:
(x-3)(x-4) =0
to solve for x, set each equal to 0
x-3= 0
x=3
x-4=0
x=4
your answers are 3 & 4.
(x – 3)(x – 4) = 0
x – 3 = 0
x = 3
x – 4 = 0
x = 4
To factor look for two numbers that add up to -7 (the number in front of x) and multiply together to give 12 (the constant). This only works if the number in front of x^2 is 1.
2x – 7x = -12 move 12 over
-5x = -12 simplify x
x = -12/-5 = 12/5 solved
possibilities : 12*1,2*6,4*3 all multiple to twelve, only one of these adds to 7
Try this on (x-4)(x-3)= x*x-3x-4x+12=x^2-7x+12
(x-3) * (x-4) = 0
x = 3 or 4
I didn’t know the 2 was suppose to mean squared.
