is y=2x a linear equation??? if so why??

yes it is a linear equation. Note: a linear equation is one that graphs into a straight line. one format of a linear equation is y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept (where it crosses the y axis). In your case, the slope is 2 and the y-intercept is 0 (it crosses the y axis at the origin). You could graph it using this way.
if you don’t know how to graph using slope-intercept, try some points, you can see that this equation graphs as a straight line. example of points
