It is rational. A rational number is any number that can be put in the form of a/b. -5 can be written as -5/1. (an irrational number would be sq rt of 2, for example)

It is also real, it is an integer, but not natural. Natural numbers are counting numbers.

-5 is rational because it is a terminating number. It’s an integer, also. Integers are decided by if a number’s absolute value is a whole number, or if it can be written as a fraction. The absolute value of -5 is 5.

3.14159… is irational because the number does not terminate. The closest you can get to writing Pi as a fraction is 7/22, but that’s not exact.

-5 is rational because it can be written as a fraction ( -5/1). If 3.14…. is PI than it is irrational because it can’t be written as a fraction.
