Interpreters??

OK I am almost finished with my essay, and need a little help with this last part. What do you think this means?

“Give an example of how John Knowles’ use of punctuation made dialogue or a descriptive passage easier to comprehend by eliminating his punctuation marks and analyzing how meaning is affected by their absence.”

If someone pleasee would help me 10 points !! Thanks!

The point here is to decide how the punctuation is useful. What would the piece read like without puctuation?

Think about this: (No insult intended, but it illustrates the point.)

Woman without her man is nothing (You don’t know the intent)

Woman without her man, is nothing. (Woman is weak)

Woman: without her, man is nothing. (Woman is strong)

The punctuation above determines the meaning the reader understands.

If you are reading A Separate Peace, that’s awesome I love that book.

What it is saying is, Give an example of how he helped the reader understand a conversation better.

Like it would be harder to read:

“You are so annoying!”

“GEE SORRY”

then

“Phineas, you are so annoying!”

“Gee, Sorry” exclaimed Gerry.
