Information on Mad Cow Disease?

Im trying to do a report and well im trying to gather as much as information as i can & also i wanted to see what othe people know about this disease

what i need is:

History (cause) and timeline of the disease

what steps have been taken by the food industry to insure wholesomeness of beef?

and what has been & is being done to fight this tragedy

if you could please help me with providing as much as information as you can also i really want to hear your guys opinion
