Solution:
x1 = m ; x2 = -9
y1 = 7 ; y2 = m
slope = m
The slope formula is Slope = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
therefore substituting the values;
m = (m – (-9)) / (7 – (+m))
m = (m+9) / (7-m)
m(7-m) = m + 9
7m-m^2 = m+9
m^2-7m+m+9 = 0
m^2-6m+9 = 0
breaking the term 6m
m^2-3m-3m+9 = 0
taking common
m(m-3)-3(m-3)=0
(m-3)(m-3)=0
therefore
m-3=0
so
m=3
