Construction. A garden area is 30ft long and 20ft wide. a path of uniform width is set around the edge. If the remaining garden area is 400ft^2, what is the width of the path?

if the garden area is 30ft long by 20ft wide, then the area of the garden is 600 ft^2.
if the actual garden area is 400 ft^2, then the path around it is 600-400=200 ft^2
and since 400 is 20^2, then the dimensions of the path are10 ft by 20ft.
