well, so far i’ve written three pages, my story’s gonna about this isolated, quiet girl who has a overly protective mother and her mother has very high standards for her daughter. she’s also very strict & teaches her daughter lessons using tough love. to help her through all this, she has her best friend michael, but her mother doesn’t like him. she also has an older brother who is normally very sweet and friendly but he’s been acting quiet and scared and quiet lately.

the trouble is for the first step, amy has to leave her home in order to search for something that she feels is missing in life, but i’m stuck as to what she is missing?

This is the standard recipe for a fantasy novel. Be it with or without magic. The trick to doing this is to not do it one step at a time and see where it leads you. You need to get an overall concept of what type story you want, and what the main character is going to be at the end. Then you can proceed with the story to make ends meet. Lots of authors of this genre use prophecy as a link. Especially when they brainstorm a few good ideas, but can’t link them easily…..so to get from a to b, they use a story old but many times told type thing.

Just start at the end, write the begiining, and the story will end up telling itself to you as you go.
