Are you familiar with how to graph based on the equation:
y=mx+b?
m is your slope
b is where the line intercepts the y axis.
So let’s take problem # 1
First, solve the equation so it’s in the form y=mx+b.
To do this follow these steps:
1. Change the equation around so that it’s in the form y=mx+b. You don’t yet need to worry about the y=-6 part.
To do this, follow these steps.
Move 4x to the right side of the equals sign.
y = -4x + 2
2. Now, start at the y-intercept of positive 2. This is the point (0, 2), which is two above the origin on the y-axis. Plot a point here for starters.
3. Now, plot one more point to make a line. You can think of the mx part (in this case, -4x) as rise over run. “Over? But my -4 isn’t over anything” Yes, over. This is still a fraction, but since it is reduced to a whole number, it’s -4/1.
So, let’s “rise” by -4 from your ORIGINAL point at (0,2). That actually means you go down four, because your rise is a negative number. Now you’ll “run” by 1. In this case, go to the left by 1.
Now you have points at your y-intercept, which is (0,2), and at (-2, 1).
4. The question really being asked is, when your line is at -6 on the y-axis, where is it on the x-axis? You can find out two ways. First, do it by graphing like your teacher asked. Trace your finger over your line and find where it’s at -6. Where is it on y?
Check your work by plugging -6 into the Y value and solve the equation to find the value for X. I’ll let you do this, so that you understand the process used to find these answers.
Do you know if your line has a positive or negative slope? Hint: You can tell by looking at the sign of your “m” number.

In number two, you can also do substitution by plugging -x into the y for the second equation making the equation
-x=2x-6. Add x to both sides and add six to both sides making it x=6. Then you solve for y by just plugging 6 in. That makes y -6. Therefore you have the coordinate (6,-6) where the two lines intersect.
Number three is the same thing too if you want to use substitution, but I’ll explain it using elimination. Make the first equation xs basically equal except make one negative, so just multiply each side of the top equation by -3. This makes the top equation: -3y= -2x-15 and the bottom equation remains the same. You add the two equations together which eliminates the ys and the xs. Therefore, the two equations are uncorrelated because they are parallel to eachother so there is no solution.

4x=8
x=2
answer: the points are (2, -6) using the x i found, and the y they gave you.

3. 3(y) =(2/3x-5) 3 multiply both sides by 3

I don’t really remember how to solve the rest. It’s been SO long since Algebra.
