I need help understanding this statement?
1. “If we insist that conclusive proof is required before we
accept anything as true, we will never be able to accept any substantive statements about the world as true.”
Favorite Answer
Most conspiracy theories are based on the stated question above ie. prove that something doesn’t exsist- it’s impossible to do so conclusively because there is always that one-in-a million chance the absurd or the impossible actually exsists.
Scientists use a studying guideline, for lack of a better word, called Occam’s Razor. Occam’s Razor states that, all things being equal, the most logical and practical answer is the correct one. Saves everyone chasing their asses for the rest of their life trying to think of every possible variation imaginable!
For example if someone tell you his shirt is blue and you insist that he prove that it is. Then prove infact that that color is the color blue. It would go on forever. You would question everything and accept nothing.

if you always need proof before believing a statement, you’ll never know the truth about anything.
