I need help understanding Acceleration?

For my science homework we have this question:

What is the acceleration of a car that, while moving in a straight line, increases its speed from zero to 100 km/hr in 10s?

So the formula is

Acceleration=Change in speed/change in time

Right?

So the answer would be 10 hr/km?

No, you have the wrong answer. Here’s a hint – you need to make your time measurements match before you can complete the problem. In other words you need to change hours into seconds, or seconds into hours.

Try again and good luck.

Your answer should be expressed in km/s^2 – or kilometers per second squared. Unless you are taking an extremely basic (non scientifically based physics course) – I can’t imagine anyone teaching a method that kept mixed time units in an answer.
