I have a question about a sentence in my English paper?
I wrote in my English paper ” The author’s purpose is to enlighten people of the joys and benefits of learning another language and he aims to persuade people of the values of bilingual education.” The tutor who proofread my paper wrote that I should have written ” The author’s purpose is to enlighten people to the joys and benefits of learning another language”. Which is the correct word to use after enlighten,
” of” or ” to”?Thank you very much for your help.

I’d go with “to”, because “of” would mean they wouldn’t want the joys of bilingualism. “To”, in my own perspective, would mean to take them to it, to help them achieve it, etc.

I believe the of is the word.The word should of been of..you dont learn of something but to something.I believe i am right on this.Sorry its to.. I read this over and over..your Tudor is right. I ran this off and read it to someone on the phone and my first answer was wrong..you dont learn of something but to something. Its to. I am so mixed up when I answer something incorrectly…I apologise again.
