Even something as “simple” as the local fishing club giving the telephone numbers of its members to a telemarketing company to use.

Right, now think about a local-to-your-area organisation, i.e. garage, factory, school, pub, take away.

Next consider WHAT SORT of information they would have. Such as members personal details or customer account details or car alarm code numbers or where a key is hidden at a factory etc etc.

Perhaps tackle this report by mainly looking at the who, what and why this powerful information would be used. e.g. to hurt someone, to steal something, to avoid justice, to conceal something and so on.

Then combine that with your local choice of organisation e.g. the garage that services cars in your street etc. Describe how the misuse would affect other people including reputation, trust, saftey, law, business growth etc.

If you include in your report actual facts you have found out by talking to the people at your choosen organisation i.e. write a careful script for an interview and politely phone, record by tape or writing the answers.

Or face-to-face interview plus internet searches or product analysis (Checking out what your organisation makes or does then writing about that factually).

Present this report in this order maybe:

-Introduction to your choosen organisation including what it does and the type of information it carries

-How this information could possibly be misused and for what gain

-The effects this misuse would have all round

-Steps that could be taken to help reduce this misuse happening AND what to do if it DID happen.
