The three main topics should be choosing an instrument – list the different kinds of guitars and what each is best suited for.

Tuning the guitar. Explain how the frequencies of the strings complement each other. Talk about the different kinds of strings – gut, steel wound, etc. and what each is used for.

Playing the guitar – the difference between the single string approach, where the player fingers melodic sequences, and the chording approach where the player uses full chords to back up the melodic line provided by other instruments or by someone’s voice or the slack string guitar, the open chord guitar, the rascado and flamenco techniques etc.etc.etc..
