How would you answer the essay question “Describe a time when you encountered…”?
• What was the aim of the project?
• What were the specific obstacles that arose, and why did they occur?
• How specifically did you respond to those obstacles? What specific actions did you take? You may describe more than one approach, if relevant.
• What was the ultimate outcome with respect to the initial aim of the project? Why did this outcome occur?”
It’s not that I want anyone to write this for me, but I am having serious difficulty coming up with an example that has enough substance to answer everything they want. I have tons of leadership experience, but the worst I’ve ever had to deal with is bad attitudes… I was hoping I could gain a fresh perspective from everyone and maybe a few ideas! Thanks!
Favorite Answer
1. when you were working with a group of friends (sometimes that can be difficult)
2. working with someone with very different viewpoints than yourself
3. working with someone of a different race, gender, religion on something and have prejudices at first, but then learned from
4. working with siblings to clean the house, plan a party for or make breakfast in bed for your parents (working together with siblings can be very challenging)
Hope those help spark your creativity a little & good luck!!
1. Poor work performance
2. Poor attendance
3. Attitude rubbing off on others
4. You (as the leader) not being able to focus totally on work.
Just think of a time where you may have experienced one or more of these and elaborate. Describe how it made you feel, how it affected the work place, or other workers. Describe how this type of attitude “might” have affected the workplace..even if you can’t put your finger on a specific incident.
Even describe what you have learned and how “as a leader” you can be proactive in the future with an employee who acts this way.
Remember this when assigned an essay or paper you are tasked with coming up with the idea and articulating it in such a way that you spark the reader’s interest. Use adjectives and verbs. Try not to sound too one sided especially if the topic is a bit negative. Put a positive spin on it towards the end and I guarantee this will impress the reader!
Good Luck!
