How was the political climate during Hitler’s time?

I’m doing a project and we have to answer the question about the political climate at the time of his election, during his term, and after he died. 🙂

I’d recommend you read the Wikipedia article on Hitler selectively.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_Hitler#Entry_into_politics

For example, this section on Hitler’s entry into politics is relevant to your question about the political climate in Germany.

I would recommend that you read “Rise and fall of the Third Reich”, it will give you probably more detail than you can handle. You will have to synthesize what you read into the answer as-asked, but you will have the FULL answer. Before you say it is too difficult to read or that it is too big a book, I read it as a H.S. Freshman. To get a glimpse into how Herr Schickelgruber. (The original last name of the Austrian Half-Jew who we all now know as Adolph Hitler) manipulated that political climate, read a translation of “Mien Kampf”.

when he was elected, people in Germany were upset because of the punishments imposed on them after the end of the great war, now called world war I in the west. it has often been said that the main cause of WWII was the treaty of Versailles.

when he first came to power he was seen as a savior by those he like (certainly not the Jews) and people hoped he would bring Germany back to world prominence.

by the time he died he was hated my most Germans, even high ranking members of the Nazi party
