Steps

1. Review the lesson plan prior to class.

2. Take quick notes in class. (see tip)

3. Ask the professor after class/during questions you have about the lesson plan.

4. Study the lesson in periods, that way you remember better (see tip).

5. Study for at least a total of an hour everyday before the next class.

Tips

* To take quick notes abbreviate everything, for example: (message = msg, take = tk, learn = lrn); just make up your own abbreviations, you’ll come up with what works best for you in no time.

* You remember things better in short amounts of time – DON’T study for a full hour; you will only forget half the things you read. Study for 15 minutes, then take a 5 – 10 minute break to walk around, and study for another 15 minutes, etc.

* Listening to calming classical music and chewing gum while you study are helpful items that can help you remember things better.

* Coffee or energy drinks could help.

Warnings

* Stay away from distractions while you are studying like computers, TV, non-soothing music (music with lyrics can distract you), etc.

* Do not study if you’re tired.

* Do not cram; there is no point in trying to, because you will only remember very little and it won’t help your future career because you’ll have rotten recall.

Again, as soon as you find your mind drifting, stop. Take a break, do something fun, grab an apple, just something to give your mind a rest, then come back to the studying ready to learn again. This doesn’t work for me, but I know a lot of people who this has worked really well for: make a study schedule, create a calendar of what days you’re going to study for what. It’s also a great tip when studying for finals, SATs, ACTs, trying to write admissions essays, etc. Trust me, having a schedule just makes it that much easier. If you use a planner for when homework is due, try this: when you have an assignment due in say 3 days, write down in your planer what PART of it you’re going to do each day so that you get a little bit done and don’t procrastinate. Good Luck! and remember to make it fun for yourself.

Make a list of what’s important to study… like for tests before you do a reading that you won’t need to know for a while.

Also consider a planner- if you say you’re going to start studying at a specific time and write it down, you probably will,

make it fun wit ur friends. every friday or saturday invite some friends ( like 4 ) that are in your classes to a place where u can focus like a library! bring all your books and just study! play cool games like popcorn ( you start a sentence and you pick another person to answer it) , trivia ( keep score of questions and the winner gets pizza on you! for example ) just no that studying can be fun, when your having fun
