How to change a percentage to degrees for a circle (pie graph)?

I’m having a little difficulty with my work here. I have to change the percentage of a gas in the earth’s atmosphere into degrees so I can put it in a pie chart. They didn’t give me the formula for this, and I can’t remember it for my life. One example:

Gas: Nitrogen

% of Atmoshpere: 78.08

I need to find the degrees of circle.

If anyone can, please explain in some detail how to do this and give me an easy formula to work with.

OK, I’m not sure about a formula, but I’m sure I can get the answer.

A circle is 360 degrees; so, you multiply 360 by .7808, and you get 281.088 degrees.

In mathematical form:

360 x .7808 = 281.088

There’s your answer. Also, you should try and learn the concept, so you’re not getting your work solely from others.

Multiply the percentage times 360; that will give you the angle you need to represent that percentage. For instance, 25% (1/4th) of 360 is 90, and indeed, a quarter of the “pie” is a 90-degree angle.

360 degrees in a full circle. 78.08% of a circle (pie graph) would make a slice 281.088 degrees wide (a little more 3/4s of the circle, yes?).

360 x .7808= 281.088. Take care.

divide the percentage (78.08) by 100

multiply the answer from the previous step (.7808) by 360 degrees, this the the final answer

just leave it the way it is and just mention that it yields more than 100% because of rounding issues associated with the computers processing
