How do you work out percentage increase from a graph?

I’m doing a sociology assignment whereby I have to work out the percentage increase of crime rates

In 1961 – there was a female crime rate of 0.3

In 1971 – there was a female crime rate of 1.0

and in 1989 there was a female crime rate of 1.3

(these are per 100 population)

So basically I have to work at the percentage increase in crime rate from 1961 to 1989

I worked it out to be a 333% increase but was told that it was in fact a 4% increase which sounds more plausable as you don’t often here about 333% increase in crime.

I know that this is 4 fold increase but is it also a 4% increase

if anybody could help me I would apprieciate it alot and if you could tell me how to get to that result then I can work out the rest

thankyou

If something doubles, it’s a 100% increase. Triples is 200% and quadrupled is 300% increase. Since this more than quadrupled, your 333% answer is right.
