how do you find the y-intercept without using a graph?

okay so i have this math homework and i really don’t understand it and the teacher never showed us how to find the y-intercept with out a graph and making the linear equation.i need help.

example problem: (5,7),(6,8)

also with this one: (-2,3), slope =4

[don’t worry i won’t copy.i really need to learn this any ways]
