how do you find lim f(x) and f(c) if c=4 with a graph of y=[x +4] -8?

We’ll assume you mean absolute value by the [ ], otherwise the eq’n is simply y = x – 4, which is a line of slope 1 and y-intercept (0,-4).

Now for y = I x+4 I – 8, the y values are always >= -8, and reach this minimum at (-4, -8). As x increases from -4, y increases by increments of 1 (slope = 1) from -8. At x = 4, y=0, and thereafter is positive. As x decreases from -4, y increases by increments of 1 from -8. At x = -12, y = 0, and is positive for x< -12. You asked about lim f(x), but did not specify what x was approaching for limit purposes.
