How do I write an equation?

For example, how would I do this problem:

Write an equation for the line that meets the given conditions.

1. A line with slope 3.5 and y intercept (0,4)

This should look familar to you

y=Mx+b

M is the slope (rise/run)

b is the y intercept

there is also the point slope formula

for when you are given points

in space and are asked for an eqn

y(1)-y(0)=M(x(1)-x(0))

1 is end point

0 is start point

if problem says you start at

(1,2) and you end at (x,y)

and you have a slope of 2

what is the eqn of the line

y(0)=2, y(1)=y

x(0)=1, x(1)=x

M=2 then substitute these

(y-2)=2(x-1)

(y-2)=2x-2 distributing M

y=2x adding 2 to each side

I hope this helps
