Remember your order of opperations:

Parenthesis

Exponents

Multipy/Divide

Add/Subtract

4b+8/-2=10

Ok, there are no parenthesis or exponents so you do your multiplications and division first. In this case, you only have division. So, you divide 8 by -2

4b+-4=10

–4 –4

Ok, now that you’ve simplified your equation the real stuff begins. Subtract -4 from both sides. Now, when you subtract a negitive integer what you really do is add. So now you will have this:

4b=14

/4 /4

Now, to get b by itself, you divide 4 on both sides

b=3.5

First multiply both sides by -2 to get rid of your denominator:

4b+8=-20

Now, isolate b:

4b= -28

Solve for b by dividing both sides by 4:

b= -7

ok. so first multiply by -2 on each side.

you get 4b+8=-20

subtract 8 on both sides

you get 4b=-28

divide each side by 4

b=-7

4b+(8/-2)=10

4b+(-4)=10

4b=10+4

4b=14

4b/4=14/4

b=3.5
