view the radicals as variables. for example substitute and x for each of them making it x + 2x. so it’s 3x or more correctly it’s 3 square roots of 5.

This isn’t an equation, so you’re not really solving. You can however simplify it like so:

sqrt[5] +2sqrt[5] = 3sqrt[5]

it’s like collecting like terms (the root 5)

Square roots work similarly to variables. Because they’re the same square root, you can just add them to get 3√5.

so the answer is 3 sqrt.(5)

sqr(5) x (1 + 2)
