How do I put this in slope- intercept and standard form?

m= -1/4 (4,-1)

Please show me the steps because I have a ton more to go.

to put this in slope intercept form which is y=mx+b, you must first find the y intercept. m is the slope which you already found to be -1/4. To find the y intercept (b) you must plug it into the equation of y-y1=m(x-x1). y1 and x1 are the numbers in the perenthesis. You have to plug it in so y-(-1)=-1/4(x-4) which then equals y+1= -1/4x-+1. Bring the 1 over to the other side which makes your equation y=-1/4x.

To put this into standard form Ax+By+C=0 you plug the numbers in again to make -1/4x+y=0

The form for slope intercept form is y=Mx+b

M is your slope and b is the y intercept.

I graphed it and the line crosses the y axis at 0

So the equation is y=-1/4x+0

standard form is y=mx+b

where m: is the slope

b=x-intercept(where the line crosses the x-axis)

substitute your givens:

-1=(-1/4)(4)+b

-1=-1+b

b=0

standard form will be:

y=(-1/4)x+0

y=-x/4

or:

4y=-x

or:

4y+x=0

any of the three will do.I prefer first and third.
