replace x with a 0 and rearange and solve the formula so that you can find the value of y.

2 * (0) -y= -8

Then get the original (2x-y=-8) and now replace y with a 0 so that you can rearrange and solve the formula to find the value of x.

2x-0= -8

2x-y=-8

-y=-8-2x

y=2x+8 the y-intercept is 8

2x-y=-8

2x=-8+y

(2x=-8+y)1/2

x=y/2-4 the x-intercept is 4

the general formula is y=mx+b or x=my+b, where m is the slope and b is the x or y intercept.

the x intercept is the point where the line crosses the x axis

to find it, set y=0 and then solve for x

the y intercept is the point where the line crosses the y axis

to find it, set x = 0 and then solve for y

x intercept happens when y = 0 (when the line intercepts the x axis)

y intercept happens when x = 0 (when the line intercepts the y axis)

2x=y-8

x=(y-8)/2

(y-8)/2-y=-8

=>y=1 x=1
