The government changed tremendously. Like the British king used to rule the colonies….well not anymore. They could manage their own money, have their own army/militia, expand where and when they want to, regulate trade within the area, make treaties…..

Oh My, I think Iam a little saddened by your needing toask this question, but I will console myself by thinking you are just seeking the oppinions of many, like taking a poll. I think the most important thing I notice ( as a child of the 60’s and 70’s) is that a group of otherwise unconnected people joined together to fight a common foe and the oppression it manifested. Freedom to choose was a new concept to ordinary folk back in that day. They had leaders whose word was gospel and irrefutable. To revolt meant chancing death or worse. England had a long history of fighting and winning battles and the thought that they could be beaten by a militia armed with determination as their strongest weapon was a rediculous idea. Many rediculous ideas were encouraged and supported after the victory. Often thru trial and many errors, a new concept of governing was born where rank,status, or nobility where no longer the requirement to have a voice. ( it took us way to long to include sex and race to that quotiant.) In its fear of losing this idea and concept, the system of checks and balances was put into place. A great strength was gained as a direct result of the victory. Strength to weigh each decision made by the government by the affect it would have on the majority of Americans. ( wish more of that held true today) I think the sense of comradre also was born, the flags displayed after 911 showed that cohesiveness that while we may argue or debate amognst each other, we would never allow a enemy to break us or our resolve as AMERICANS!
