I concur with the above… the neuronal pathways that are needed to do math will be strengthened only by use.

You can start with simple stuff and build. go to the hardest math tutorial websites that you can do well at, and spend 20 minutes a day doing math; going to harder stuff as you can. You will be amazed at the progress after a month or 2 and can become great after a year or 2.

if you have much more trouble in math than your peers, I would not bother with calculus, but 99.9% of adults don’t use it anyway

as a former math teacher i can tell you it’s like so many other things, it’s about practice…while i was a teacher(algebra) i could stand at the white board and solve problems no calculator needed and without any real hard thought…today, a few years later, i doubt i could do many basic algebra problems without a lot of thought and i find myself using a calculator all the time…the point is when i did it every day it was a snap, now that i don’t it’s just doesn’t come as easy…i would suggest really taking your time in completing homework and if need be some extra problems…in time you will see that it will get easier and you will complete problems faster and more accurately…also, lose the calculator if you are using one…the mental exercise of working out the math in your head helps with the process as well…good luck

I agree it is a matter of practice but it also involves how you are doing the work in class and out. Do you take notes? Do you review your notes? One suggestion is to rewrite important information on index cards. That will also help you to study for tests. Don’t be afraid to ask for help…..that’s what teachers are paid for. Good luck.
