The most effective transition is the most creative kind. What I mean is you should try to come up with another reader hook like the one that you put at the beginning of an essay. The next most effective transition would be one that ties in the information in the preceding paragraph and paraphrases it in the current paragraph by foreshadowing a coming explanation or posing a question or paradox. The least effective transition, but most widely used is the countdown transition wher e you would say words like also or finally or lastly or whatever else.
