How can I do HW fast?

I get a TON of HW, and of course, it’s not possible to do it all in 2 hours or anything, but I want to actually sleep by 11:30!

Here is my schedule:

5:00 – Wake up

6:15 – Bus

6:45 – 2:30 – School

My Classes:

English 2 AP

Chemistry AP

Seminar for the Talented & Gifted

Driver’s Education

US History AP

Geometry Honors

Trigonometry Honors

French 3 Honors

2:45 – 5:00 – Field Hockey Pratice

5:30 – 6:00 – Get Home & Eat

After then, I’m a mess drowned in homework. I always plan ahead, but work takes long and I’m up until after 2:00 in the morning. I get no sleep, and I just need to work quicker! (I’m not slow, but there’s a lot of work!) Any suggestions?!

Well, with your courseload you’re going to have a ton of homework. AP and Honors courses generally carry at least an hour of homework per class, per night. Because they’re weighted and can count as college credit along with the exam, they’re designed to “challenge” (read: bury) you.

My recommendation, from my AP and Honors days, would be to make sure you have everything written down, even on a grid or checklist. It seems simple, but it takes the guesswork out of organization and prioritizing. Start with your hardest subjects first (whichever are most challenging for you) so that you are the most attentive and able to concentrate for those, and go from there. If there are some subjects that just come naturally to you, save those for last or sprinkle them between harder subjects – they’ll almost seem like dessert πŸ™‚

Also, make sure that you have nutritious snacks readily available when you study – keeping your blood sugar regulated can do a lot to help you concentrate, especially after a day of school and two hours of field hockey practice. Stuff like granola bars, fruit, baked chips and cheese, water or sports drinks, things like that should be right within your reach so you don’t have to get up and search for them. Don’t eat them just to eat, but when you feel yourself fading, they’ll help like you wouldn’t believe.

Use your time on the bus to look over your stuff for the day and make sure you’ve got it all together. Use it to get yourself together, to make sure you’re ready for everything.

This helped me through high school, and carried on into college; now that I teach my son and several classes, I still use this system with my research, lesson planning, and prep before he gets up and after he goes to bed.

Good luck, and great job! Keep up the great work πŸ™‚

You need to be organised with your homework planning – meaning – instead of wasting time going around in circles with your homework have a strategy to complete it.. ie research first then compile it rather than trying to compile the work at the same time as researching.. gather all information required then put the work together systematically. Read everything required before starting so you don’t goof up and find you have done something you didn’t need to or you have done it the right way.

No way to actually DO it faster but with some organisation you will save a lot of time.. sorry thats all I can suggest, being a disorganised person and studying myself I had to use a lot of self discipline to save some time.
