helppppp with math please??!?
y2-y1
____
x2-x1
i did the problem and my answer is 0 over -18
but it says to find the distance between the points to
the nearest tenth. what do they mean by nearest tenth??
can anyone explain and show me please? thank you

Alright first off you are trying to find the distance of those two points, NOT the slope.
The distance formula is
distance= Sq rt ((a-c)(a-c) + (b-d)(b-d))
where (a,b) and (c,d) are points on a graph…It’s hard to write the formula for you, which is above but I can tell you want it means.
The distance between two points is the square root of (a-c) squared, plus (b-d) squared. When you get your answer you round to the nearest tenth, which is 1 place after the decimal point.
So in your case it’s like this
(10- (-8)) sq+ (14-14) sq
so we get 324 + 0= 324
take the square root of that and we get 18!
Hope this helps!

the distance formula is
d= sq rt (x2-x1)2+(y2-y1)2
d=sq rt (-8-10)2+(14-14)2
=sq rt (-18)2
=18
d=18
_/(x1 – x2)^2 + (y1 – y2)^2
its the square root of ((x1-x2)^2 + (y1-y2)^2)
so the square root of (18^2)
