Help with this physics problem?
Can someone explain to me how to do this physics problem? It would be much appreciated.
A 0.14-kg pinecone falls 16 m to the ground, where it lands with a speed of 13 m/s. With what speed would the pinecone have landed if there had been no air resistance.

The weight is irrelevant.
16 = 4.9t^2 (from s = ut + 0.5at^2)
from this, t = 4/sqrt(4.9)
Velocity on free fall v = 9.8t = 2 x sqrt(4.9) x 4 (from v = u + at)
= 17.71 m/sec
s- distance travelled, v-final velocity, u-initial velocity, a-acceleration, t-time
