The slope of a line is equal to delta y/delta x: m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
Since the y-intercept is 6, the point is (0,6)
So using point 2 and the y-intercept, calculate the slope:
m= (6-1)/(4-0)
So the slope is 5/4.
The equation of a line is y= slope *x + y-intercept.
so the equation is y= 5/4 x +6
Then plug in the point w/ the k’s:
-2k = 5/4 ( k+3) +6
-2k= 5/4k + 15/4 +6
-6= 13/4k +15/4
Multiply by 4:
-24= 13k +15
Isolate k and solve for k:
13k= -39
k= -3
