I think b. gravity. That is what we associate when we stumble and fall down for example we don’t stumble and float, so in a sense we are prisoners of gravity.

I would chose emotion….
People are not prisoners of gravity
People are not prisoners of greed
People are not prisoners of turbulence
People are not prisoners of politics…at least not all
Most people are prisoners of emotion though….most humans, cry, are sad, mad, happy, etc…
FALLING…being a metaphor for FAILURE.
IN this case we “FEEL” an emotion of us FALLING when we FAIL.
