HELP ME PLEASE! poem topic….?

I need tons of ideas for what to write a poem about. I totally can’t think of anything and I have to write a sonnet by tommarow! I can’t just write about love because I’ve never really been in love or death because no one close to me has ever died! What are other good, maybe emotionally deep, topics???????????

A sonnet can be about anything, really. What matters is the form. I assume you know what a sonnet involves. But, just in case, here are the rules:

– There must be 14 lines.

– There must be three stanzas of four lines each.

– There must be a final couplet (two lines that rhyme).

Shakespeare’s sonnets were written in iambic pentameter. That means 10 “feet” with two syllables each, stressed as follows:

da-DUM-da-DUM-da-DUM-da-DUM-da-DUM

Rough WINDS do SHAKE the EARly BUDS of MAY

The lines must rhyme at the end, in either of two ways:

abba cddc effe gg OR abab cdcd efef gg

Maybe you could write about how hard it is to write a sonnet!

“Our teacher asked us to write a sonnet,

But I can’t remember how, doggone it! …” 🙂
