The phases of the moon are caused by the orbit of the moon around the earth. The moon reflects the light from the sun, which can only shine on 50% of the moon at any one time. Depending on which part of the moon is facing us, we will be looking at different phases of the moon.

I’m not sure which type of eclipse you’re looking for. Lunar eclipses happen when their is a full moon and the earth moves between the sun and the moon. Thus, turning the full moon dark, or at least a redish color for a few hours.

Solar eclipses happen when the moon comes directly between the sun and the earth, thus temporarily blocking the sun’s rays from reaching us.

Tides are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon, and to a much lesser extent, the sun. Check out my source for a complete explanation.

The distance to the sun in relation to the earth causes the moon phases. Gravitational pull causes tides to rise. Eclipses occur when the moon is directly in front of the sun.
