-John can paint a barn in 12 days. Joseph can do the same job in 3 days while James can paint the barn in 2 days. What part of the task would be completed in 1 day if the three boys worked together?
1/17, 3/17, 11/12, 1, 12/11
-the sum of the first 200 positive even integers is X. What is the sum of the first 200 positive odd integers?
-The number 9 can be written as the sum 9 consecutive integers. What is the value of the smallest term?
thank you for all your help :]

11/12 of the barn will be done
X-200
-3 is the smallest integer
But I’m bored… and mildly amused.
Regarding the first, there is certainly enough information.
Another way to read this question: in a class of 5 students, 2 are boys, 3 are girls. 3 out of 5 are girls. 3/5 or 60%.
Regarding the second:
John paints 1 barn in 12 days… so in a day, he can paint 1/12 of a barn.
Joseph paints 1 barn in 3 days… so in a day, he can paint 1/3 of a barn.
James (whom we must mention is a hard worker, but does a really sloppy job) can paint 1 barn in 2 days… so in a day, he can 1/2 of a barn.
The solution is to add the fractions: 1/12 + 1/3 + 1/2. Lowest common denominator is 12. So the addition looks like: 1/12 + 4/12 + 6/12 = 11/12
Regarding the third: the first odd integer is 1, yes? The first even integer is 2, yes?
Okay… the pattern is this: the odd integer added in each sequence is 1 less than the even integer. Or… for each sequence, let’s say the even integer equals x, the odd integer equals x-1. So,
For even integers (3 iterations): x + x + x = 3x
For odd integers (3 iterations): (x-1) + (x-1) + (x-1) = 3x – 3
Add just these three sequences and you can see that the sum of the odd integers is 3 less than the sum of the 3 even integers. Following this logic, for 200 sequences, the sum of the odd integers would be 200 less than the sum of the even integers. In other words, for each iteration, the sum of odd integers equals the negative value of the total number of times it is performed. (even as I type this, I’m getting confused.)
On the last… start at -3 (which happens to be value of the smallest term).
(-3) + (-2) + (-1) + 0 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 = 9
therefore % of girls = 3x/5x*100=60%.
2. johns one day work = 1/12 and josheps one day work =1/3
and james one day work = 1/2.on adding all of the threes one day work we get
1/12+1/3+1/2=11/12.Therefore if they work together for 1 day 11/12 of the barn will be painted.
4. the sum of 2,3,&4 is 9 and they are consecutive integers too. therefore smallest integer is 2.i think so.
well i am not able to get your third question.
