Government question?

Why would the anti-federalists like the comprimise to move the capital of the united states to washington DC instead of allowing it to stay in new york or philadelphia?

Because Washington DC is not affiliated with any states, and under the Constitution is forbidden to become a state, so does not have and favoritism or prejudice for or against any states.

It was also an economic comprimise, the anti-federalists got alot of things they wanted in lieu of thier vote to move the capital there.

I think both major parties at that time realised those other locations were not working and that both area’s retained some political power, and they both ended up blossoming, I’d say it encompassed tha beauty in compromise but not for any one reason
