Geometry help.?

A bug crawls along the outside of a 6.5 cm by 8.5 cm rectangle. STaying 3.5 cm from it all times. What is the perimeter and area to the nearest tenth of a cm squared of the region bounded by the path of the bug? Do I just do the perimeter and area of the rectangle then add the 3.5 ?

You ADD 3.5 to Length AND Width and THEN find the boundary…

10×2 + 12×2 = 20+24 = 44cm

10×12 = 120cm^2
