The introduction of new foods and poisons, and the effective mitigation of old poisons and decaying organic things by nature’s actions, which depend upon how effective nature’s actions are.

Plants and animals have no difficulties surviving (spelling error in your question) in deserts (spelling error in your question) and tundras IF they are physiologically well suited to those places. Each of those geographical areas is home to hundreds of plants and animals, and in the usual course of things, there is relative stability in populations over time.
