x-intercepts happen when y=0

so set y to zero and solve the eqn

x^2-3x-10=0

factor this to

(x-5)(x+2)=0

so either

x-5=0

or

x+2=0

solve each of these for x

then substitute them into

(x,0) and (x,0) are the

x-intercepts

***y-intercepts happen when x=0

well you can use the quadratic equation to get both of the answers, or factor it.

y=(x-5)(x+2)

x = 5 and x = -2

***EDIT***

yeah sorry set the ‘y’ variable to zero
