Figure out Ratio of 2 numbers?
If my two numbers IN dollars are: $39.95 and $47.83 how do I figure out the ratio? Do I divide 47.83 by 39.95? Answer being 1.19 — how do I write that number 1:19?

No, my dear lady; the answer is done as follows:
To find the ratio of the two numbers, divide the smaller number by the greater to find how one mounts in relation with the other. So divide 39.95 by 47.83 as follows:
39.95/47.83 = 0.835. This number shows that the first number is as 0.835 to 1. (be careful what I stated here) Now to adjust the ratio one step further, divide 1/0.835. You get: 1.1976. This number gives the ratio of the two numbers as 1 to 1.19, and not 1 to 19
So the ratio of your two numbers is 1:1.19.
The answer is 1:1.19

The ratio between A and B is what you get from dividing B by A. You’re right, you divide 47.83 by 39.95. The number 1.19 is a decimal, “1 plus 19 hundredths”. The number 39.95 is “39 plus 95 hundredths”, since a cent is a hundredth of a dollar.

not exactly the ratio is 3995:4783 i donot think u can reduce this but thats the answer if u wan to use percents could divide these either way and get b:a as 119% of a thats essentially what uve done or a:b as 81% of b the revese of what u did
