First – Your first term is ax^2, but a = 1; so ignore the a. That leaves you with x^2, which can only be x * x; so the first term in each pair of parentheses is x.

Last – What are the factors of c? In this example, they will both be positive numbers.

Outside/Inside – Your factors of c have to sum to c and add to b. For example, if c were 8 and b were 9, your factors of c would be 8 and 1. If c were 8 and b were 6, your factors of c would be 4 and 2.

First this is supposed to be in your own words.

Second: When the sqaured quantity’s coefficient is 1, simply find the factors that muliply to produce the c term and add together to create the bx term.

Third: We call this the “Master Product Method” or the “AC Method” at school.
