Same way Archimedes did it. You get a tub of water – this is actually easier if you can use an oil drum or something of that sort – fill it with water to the very brim. Then you climb in and submerge yourself. Then you climb out, measure how much water has slopped out of the drum and knowing the dimensions of the drum, you can calculate exactly what volume of water spilled out — which will be equal to the volume of you.

Best to do it outdoors, however, as it makes a mess in the house.

Get a large drum – large enough that you can fit your entire body into it. Make marks on the side so you know how much water is in it. You can get a good estimate by getting into the drum and having someone pour water into it until you’re completely covered. Record where the water line reaches. Then get out of the drum and record the new level of the water line. The difference in volume will be the volume of your body.

I call that an estimate because you’ll be taking some of the water out of the drum with you. For a more accurate estimate, do it the other way around – put enough water into the drum so that, when you get in, it covers you completely. Record the different levels, and the difference will again be your volume. This one requires you to have a good starting estimate, though, so you know how much water to start off with.

first completelyfill a container, say a cyclindrical drum or the like, with water. then compute the container’s volume. step inside the container so that water will spill out. then compute again the volume of water that was left in the container. subtract the new volume of water from the original volume and the answer will be your body’s volume.

then shout Eureka!

Fill a tub (in another tub) to the brim. Get in. The water that comes out into the outer tub is the volume of your body.

Fill your bath mostly with water. Mark the water level.

Get in. Submerge yourself totally.

Get a good friend to mark the new water level.

Get out.

Using a quart pitcher, fill the bath till the water rises to the second mark.

The amount of water you poured in is your volume.
