Evaluate (if possible) the function at the specified value(s) of the independent variable and simplify results

1. f(x)=square root ( x+3 ) evaluate for f( x+ Δx)

2. f(x)= { 2x + 1, x<0 f(x)= { 2x + 2, x >or equal to 0, evaluate for f( 2 ) and f( t^2 + 1)

please help me or at least can u explain in detail how 2 do these problems. It is for summer homework, I am allowed to use the interent as a resource and help would be very much appreiacted. Thanks

1) f(x+ Δx) means wherever you see an x replace it with “x+ Δx”

f( x+ Δx) = sqrt(x+ Δx+3)

This cannot be simplified.

2) f(2)

2 > 0, so plug it into the part where x >= 0

2x+2 = 2(2)+2 = 4+2 = 6

f(t^2 +1)

t^2 + 1 >= 0 for all values of t, so plug it into the part where x >= 0

2x+2 = 2(t^2 +1)+2 = 2t^2 + 2 + 2 = 2t^2 + 4
